If you’re a frequent visitor of Friendster, you would definitely have noticed the search box now searches the Web by default, instead of profiles on Friendster, like it used to.

Despite me generally not being much of a fan of social networking sites, this bizarre change is now my greatest form of frustration on the site. The rationale behind this recent change is unclear, someone visiting Friendster would most definitely be searching for user profiles, and it is highly unlikely that the majority of its users’ primary action is to use it for a Web search.

It’s probably another ‘feature’ that some developer thought it would be cool to have, without actually sitting down and have a trial run using his own application.
